Radipole Lake RSPB Reserve
Our accommodation is perfectly placed
for keen birdwatchers, as the Sun Inn is just a two-minute
walk from the RSPB reserve at Radipole Lake.
The large reedbed, open water, flood meadows and bushes attract
many different birds. Bearded tits and Cetti's warblers can
be seen all year. They are joined in summer by reed, sedge
and grasshopper warblers and in autumn by a variety of migrating
birds. In winter, bitterns, pochard and tufted ducks can be
seen.
There's a visitor centre that offers superb views across the
reserve as well as offering guided walks and talks. The shop
stocks books, bird feeders, binoculars and everything else
that a keen ornithologist could want.
Whatever the time of year, there is easy access to the reserve
along firm paths that are suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs.
